Hey all!
January
13, 2012 was Friday and the end of the first study week at the University of
Utah. The first week also happened to be the International Welcome Week for
those students who came from abroad, like I did.
Earlier
that week I got an e-mail and here are some parts of it: Hello and Welcome to
a new Semester at the U! This Friday January 13th, 2012, the Study
Abroad Office will be hosting a welcome dinner and activity for new and
incoming exchange students. We will be eating dinner at The Pie Pizzeria and
attending a University of Utah gymnastics meet. We would love for other
exchange students to come and meet and welcome the new exchange students to the
U! Please dress accordingly. Hope to see you there! Don’t forget to RSVP!
Everything
went great! The gymnastics meet was amazing and one of the reasons for that was
the atmosphere. So many people were cheering for the University of Utah team and
I also liked the part when everyone was singing the National Anthem. Our team
won and because of that, the big letter U was shining red and white after the
match…
It’s
a shame that my friend Claire and I didn’t really understand what “dress
accordingly” meant before the gymnastics meet. But once we went into the Huntsman
Center it was all clear: we should have worn something red – the color of the University
of Utah…
Love,
Daria
